New article reviews the state of "Religion and Media" studies

In the latest issue of the journal Religion Compass, Jeffrey H. Mahan reflects on current research trends and assumptions in the emerging field of religion and media. He also considers the influence the rise of new media is having on the field. For instance he reflect on the extent to which "new media are more than containers through which old religious messages and practices are passed on".
