Gary Bunt

Gary R. Bunt is based at the Department of Theology & Religious Studies, University of Wales Trinity Saint David, where he is Reader in Islamic Studies. Dr Bunt's primary research focuses on Islam, Muslims and the internet. His most recent book is "iMuslims: Rewiring the House of Islam" (2009) which discusses how, in some contexts, the application of the internet has had an overarching transformational effect on how Muslims practice Islam, how forms of Islam are represented to the wider world, and how Muslim societies perceive themselves and their peers. This book builds on earlier research, including "Islam in the Digital Age: E-Jihad, Online Fatwas and Cyber Islamic Environments" (2003), and "Virtually Islamic: Computer-Mediated Communication and Cyber-Islamic Environments" (2000).
